2017 vs 2018 muting radio

My 2017 radio would mute when listening to an incoming text. The 2018 seems to play both simultaneously, leaving me unable to hear the text message. Is this a change to prior models, or am I dealing with a bug?

My 2018 lowers the volume of the music enough that you can hear texts being read, using voice commands or talk on the phone. I know I've seen a setting, but for the life of me I can't remember where. I checked out the Android auto app settings and I didn't see it in there, so I'm guessing it's a setting in the car radio itself. Sorry I can't give you an exact answer, but at least you've got some hope lol
