Hi everyone!

I purchased a used 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid in June of 2019. This car has been great to me, but now I have a problem that is concerning to me. I honestly can't begin to tell you when this problem started because I drive so little being only 5 minutes from my work. When my car is in EV and transition to the gas engine there is this loud whirling sound that comes from the engine area. If I am at a red light and my gas engine kicks in, it is very loud but as I begin to accelerate the sound gets softer. When I am running on the EV engine my car is silent you don't even know it's on. Anyways, today I was at Ford getting my automatic starter put in an oil change since it has been 5,000 miles since my last oil change, I asked them to check out the sound because it seems to be getting louder and they found a fluid leak in the transmission. They are not sure if this is the problem or if there is something further going on. So I figured I would reach out on here to see if anyone has any advice or a similar problem because I know people have been able to help my girlfriend on the Ford Escape Forum so I'm hoping to have some luck here also!

Thanks!

A fluid leak on the trans should have caused a noise when in EV or gas mode. I doubt that was it. If the oil change mechanics did not properly secure the cover under the vehicle then that can rattle and cause issues.

The AC compressor makes a distinctive noise that sounds whirring but that will occur anytime the AC or defroster is on.

So the car has been in the shop for 10 days now, it needs a new transmission which is being replaced and thankfully covered by warranty and has me also going to purchase an extended warranty package because that’s the kind of car luck I have lol
